If you’re looking for the BEST gifts for artists, you’re in the right place!
This year, you don’t have to think too much about the perfect present. If you have a friend or a loved one who loves art, they will appreciate and love anything from this list! All of the items below are products that I personally tried and still using daily.
Any artist would LOVE to have more paint, personalized kits, brushes and basically everything below. These gifts would be perfect as holiday gift, birthday gift, or a simple appreciation gift for any art lover, and most of all it would show that person how much you care about them.
FYI- In this post, I focus mainly on sets instead of buying separate tubes or brushes as artists usually do because they are better for gifts. Most of the ideas below can be used both as an individual gift or as part of one big present. Depends on the event (Birthday gift, Christmas gift, Graduations, and more) you can decide what’s your budget and plan accordingly.
POSCA marker pens are one of my favorites! I tried companies such as Prismacolor, and Letraset Promarkers, but Uni POSCA are my favorites.
They are water baser pigment ink and great for everything. According to their website, the markers have been tested on over 50 surfaces!! You can use them on Canvas (my main use), metals, glass, plastic, wood, fabric, and even rocks and surfboards!
POSCA pens literally fit for every kind of artist- and that’s what makes them one of the best gifts for artists. It used for street art, “fine art” such as drawing, doodling, and painting, and different creative communities such as decorations, DIY, and customization. I mainly use mine for painting. They’re part of my first few layers and I love their unique texture. I also love testing them on other creative projects that I do.

Sakura Pigma Micron Pens
Probably the most used art material for me (other than pencils) . I don’t leave the house without them. I have at least 3 pen sizes in my bag- 0.3, 0.5, and 0.8. There’re plenty of options for sets (3,6, 16, and even 72) and you can choose which one to buy depends on the person’s style.
I would recommend at least 3-5 pens if you use this as part of a gift, go for the bigger ones as its own gift if you know the person is absolutely addicted to them.

Every artist needs a sketchbook for their ideas that’s why it’s a great gift for an artist. Before you buy a sketchbook, you need to see if it fits the medium you’re using/ the person you’re buying it for using. There are sketchbooks for watercolors, mixed media, sketching, charcoals, and more.
For drawings, I use Strathmore 400 series and with pens, I love using Bristol by Canson. Both Strathmore and Canson are my favorite companies. I tried a lot of different brands and I’m most satisfied with their products. I cannot give recommendations for other mediums because it is not my specialties, but I liked the Canson watercolors paper as well.
Every artist uses pencils, that’s exactly what makes them such a perfect gift for artists. This is the perfect item for anyone. This is so basic and so underestimated. I would combine it with a few other kinds of stuff such as a sketchbook and charcoals to create the perfect drawing kit.
I don’t have a favorite brand for regular pencils but one of my favorite drawing tools is Staedtler Mars Mechanical Writing Pencil. It’s truly my favorite and I love the fact that you can easily change the leads. I constantly using the HB lead and the 4B. Buying this had truly made my drawings better.
What I love about watercolor kits is the fact that you can take them anywhere! I use Van Gogh’s Watercolor Kit and it’s perfect for trips. Buying a watercolor kit with a watercolor sketchbook will be the perfect present for a watercolor artist. It’s easy to carry and travel with and provide great value for the money. Buy it on Amazon.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of watercolors but I use my kit for over 5 years now and I still enjoy using it every now and then. If your friend or family member loves watercolors, it’s definitely the gift I would buy.
Add 2 watercolor brushes, a sketchbook, and the set and you got the perfect gift for an artist. The other person will know that you care about them and tried to come with something they’ll use!
Daler Rowney Acrylic Artist Ink
One of my latest purchases and I absolutely love them! I decided to buy the Pearlescent FW Set (set of 6 colors) that I knew will work best with my style and my palette. I love the texture they’re giving to the painting, their glory and sparkling. It’s the ideal present for someone who loves working with Acrylic, ink, and mixed media art.
Even though you can paint with your hands, brushes are essential for any painter. A brush set is a beautiful addition to a painting kit. It can be its own present if you buy a professionalized set from one of the top brands such as Winsor & Newton and Da Vinci.
I also love the sets that come with a holder. It’s amazing for artists who love to travel with their art. Having an organizer for the brushes is priceless and makes such a unique gift for an artist.

We constantly using them and obviously, we can’t paint without them. If you’re in the U.S. Gamblin is a great company for oil paint. My favorite companies include Van-Gogh, Gamblin, and Winsor & Newton. For acrylic, I love Liquitex, Golden, and Winsor & Newton. All of them will do the work perfectly.
